National Elections

Brothers, 

As our annual NAKfest weekend closely approaches, the nominations are open for electing new brothers to serve our organization as members of our National leadership. Outlined in the National By-Laws are those positions up for election which are noted to be elected during odd years, and includes what these positions entail in terms of responsibilities and duties. Keep in mind that this is an investment in our continued progress and the opportunity to make a difference in our organization. 

National Elections will take place on Friday, April 22nd, 2011. Here is an outlined agenda and directional information on where National Elections will be held. A more detailed agenda will be avaliabled during check-in.  An early NAKfest check-in table will be available before National Elections right outside the conference room.

 Rules and Regulations for National Elections

National Elections Structure [Ref. National By-Laws]
 

(1) All Chapters Presidents are to submit the names of 5 five brothers and 2 alternates who will cast 5 votes on behalf of their chapter. Each chapter gets 5 undergraduate votes, depending on those who names were submitted and who are present. ** Due April 18th **
(2) All alumni who are present, regardless of chapter get a full vote.
(3) Each candidate will get a maximum of 10 minutes to present, with a 5 minute question and answer period. All other candidates are to remain outside of the room until the question and answer period is complete.
(4) If any position remains vacant after elections have taken place, it will be the duty of the National President to make a formal recommendation to the NEB on a possible appointee to fill the vacant position.
(5) All new elected officers will take office at the Summer NEB Retreat in June, officially. 

General Logistics, [Ref: National Elections Manual]
 

(1) Each Chapter will receive only 5 undergraduate votes, only those who have been deemed chapter voting delegates will be allowed to vote
(2) All alumni present will receive one full vote, regardless of chapter
(3) Members of the NEB will only receive one vote and cannot be a voting representative from their chapter
(4) All candidates must be present, unless otherwise notified
(5) No proxy and/or absentee votes will be accepted
(6) Copies of the Letters of Intent and Resumes will be made available through NAKChat one week prior to election date
(7) Each candidate will receive a maximum of 10 minutes to present, followed by a 5 minute Q&A session, 5 minute general body discussion
(8) Each candidate will answer the same 3 questions
(9) If any position remains vacant after elections have taken place, it will be the duty of the new board to fill those vacancies
(10) Newly elected officers will take office at the Summer NEB Planning Retreat in June

[Deadlines] 

(1) Nominations will close April 15th at midnight.
(2) Letters of Intent and Fraternal Resumes are due April 20th, examples provided upon request and must be submitted to NAKChat for review.
(3) National Elections will be held April 22nd at 7pm at CSUMB Student Union.
